There will be an open mic for poets that would like to share their original work in a warm and welcome atmosphere! Sign-up will begin at 7:00PM.

Patricia FargnoliSeptember 9th- Patricia Fargnoli 
 

 
Patricia Fargnoli, the New Hampshire Poet Laureate from December 2006 to March 2009,  is the author of four books and two chapbooks of poetry. Her newest book is Then, Something  (Tupelo Press, fall 2009). It is a finalist for the 2010 Foreword Book of the Year Award. Her fifth collection, Duties of the Spirit
( Tupelo Press, 2005) won the New Hampshire Jane Kenyon Literary Book Award for an Outstanding Book of Poetry and was a semifinalist for the Glasgow Prize.  Her first book, 
Necessary Light (Utah State University Press, 1999) was awarded the 1999 May Swenson Poetry Award judged by Mary Oliver.  

Pat”, a retired social worker, has been the recipient of a Macdowell Colony fellowship. She’s been on the residence faculty of The Frost Place Poetry Festival, and has taught at the New Hampshire Institute of Art and in the Lifelong Learning program of Keene State College. She was the recipient of an honorary BFA from The NH Institute of Arts, has won the Robert Frost Foundation Poetry Award and 6 Pushcart nominations. Twice a semifinalist for the Discovery, The Nation Awards, she has published widely in literary journals such as Poetry, Ploughshares, North American Review, Mid-American Review, Alaska Quarterly, Massachusetts Review, etc.  She currently resides in Walpole, NH.





October 14th - Hiedi Therrien  & Ryan McLellan

Heidi TherrienHeidi Therrien is a performance poet, singer, actor/director and painter from Manchester, NH. Her poems have appeared in journals such as, The 2010 Poets’ Guide to New Hampshire, Blood on the Floor Vol: II, Centripetal, Angelic Dynamo and her chapbook, High Point of My Day, was published by Sargent Press. A finalist for the 2009 NH slam team, her writing group, Blood on the Floor, won the 2008 New England Invitational Slam in Portland, ME. She was one of the featured poets at the 2009 Jazzmouth Poetry Festival and has featured around the seacoast at venues such as The Northstar Café, Beat Night at the Press Room, The Bridge Café and The Stone Pigeon, which she currently co-hosts.

Ryan McLellanRyan McLellan is the author of three collections of poetry, Ryan McLellan is a performance poet, singer/songwriter and English teacher from Exeter, NH. His poems have most recently appeared in "Bird's Eye reView", "Concise Delight", "Cosmopolitan Review", and "OVS Magazine", along with the anthologies "Chopin with Cherries" and the "2010 Poets' Guide to New Hampshire". He is a two-time recipient of the Esther Buffler Memorial Fellowship, a member of the "Slam Free or Die" National Poetry Slam team and has been touring the East Coast for the past year on what he and touring mate Mark Palos have dubbed the "Mission From Zod Tour".

 Walter Butts 

W.E. Butts is the author of several poetry collections, including Sunday Evening at W.E. Buttsthe Stardust Café, which was chosen as a finalist for the 2005 Philip Levine Prize in Poetry and selected winner of the 2006 Iowa Source Poetry Book Prize, and the chapbooks What to Say if the Birds Ask (Pudding House Publications, 2007) Sunday Factory (Finishing Line Press, 2006), White Bees (Oyster River Press, 2001), and A Season of Crows (Igneus Press, 2000). 
 
He has received two Pushcart Prize nominations and a Massachusetts Artists Foundation Award, and has taught in poetry workshops at the University of New Hampshire and has been a featured presenter at several community events and conferences.  In 2007, he was a visiting writer at Cornell College, Iowa.  He is a member of the faculty of the BFA in Writing Program at Goddard College, and is listed in two editions of Who's Who Among America's Teachers. 
 
His poems appear frequently in such magazines as Atlanta Review, Birmingham Poetry Review, Cider Press Review, Cimarron Review, Mid-American Review, and Poetry East, and have been anthologized in The Anthology of Magazine Verse (Monitor Books), Under the Legislature of Stars: 62 New Hampshire Poets (Oyster River Press, 1999), Open Door: A Poet Lore Anthology, 1980 – 1996, (Writer’s Center Editions, 1996), Heartbeat of New England: Contemporary Nature Poetry (Tiger Moon Press, 2000), Leaves by Night, Flowers by Day (Iowa Source, 2006), and elsewhere.
