Doug Lamey, Abbie MacQuarrie andSean Smithtraditional Cape Breton and Scottish fiddle and guitarSeptember 1st, 7pm
Doug
Lamey is twenty-three years old and is the grandson of Bill Lamey. Bill
was an extraordinary Cape Breton fiddler and contributor to the Scottish and Cape Breton heritage in the Boston area for over thirty-five years.
Doug
has studied and performed for several years all over North America and
has a true pride and passion for the traditional style of Scottish and Cape Breton Fiddling, just like his grandfather, Bill Lamey.
Doug
has performed in many live sound environments as well as broadcasted
performances, such as WGBH radio station and several local television
studios in Massachusetts. He has also performed at the annual Glendale
Festival in Cape Breton, the Washington Irish Festival and the
N.H. Highland Games. He has had the privilege to perform in the Boston
area with such artists as Andrea Beaton, Glen Graham, Sandy &
Johnnie MacDonald, Cliff McGann and Mac Morin. Check out Doug's website for video clips and more info.

Abbie
MacQuarrie has stormed onto the Celtic scene with her talents of fiddle
and dance. A featured performer at Club Passim, Coolidge Corner
Theater, the Childrens Museum, and Kennedys Pub, Abbies sparkly
personality and rhythmic fiddling has left an impression on the Boston
Celtic scene. We catch her just before she moves to Scotland to attend
Edinburgh University studying Celtic Arts. Check out Abbie's website for more info.
For
Sean, the social amenities are a big part of what draws him to the
music, whatever its point of origin. Playing a toe-tromping reel at a
packed-to-the-rafters Irish ceilidh, backing a brisk 6/8 march at a
convivial Scottish fiddle session, belting out a chorus at an
English-style pub-sing -makes him happy beyond description. Sean
co-founded Dark Eyed Sheep which for years performed in such venues as
Club Passim, and the Acadian Folk Festival in Maine. He is also
involved with organizing the Boston Celtic Music Festival. Check out Sean's website for more info and sound clips.

Fat Hands - August 18th, 7pm
You
see, it started like this... Two brothers, born and raised in a small
western Massachusetts mill town... Dominic and Walter Kutylowski have
always had music as part of their lives... Their Grandfather played
accordian, and that's how Walter got started... Soon enough, he began
picking up more, on piano and organ and guitar and bass... playing in
country and rock bands through the years... And then he settled down,
got married, started a family... But music has never been too far
away... Dominic picked up a few chords from his brother and taught
himself how to play guitar... Influenced by the "singer-songwriters" he
heard growing up, he began writing songs and singing them in
coffeehouses and open mics... They always got together to play, trading
and sharing songs they've written... A few years ago, the Kutylowski
brothers decided to put those songs on tape... a demo was recorded, and
FatHands was born... the joining of two musical journeys that started
on two different roads...

The nationally acclaimed Gypsy Jazz ensemble plays acoustic hot jazz,
both original compositions and unique arrangements by American and
Gypsy songwriters. The music is universal and reaches diverse audiences

Richard
Sheppard plays lead guitar for Ameranouche: “His fingers dart across
the strings faster then hummingbirds wings” -proclaims Jon Nolan of the
Wire Seacoast Entertainment Magazine. “Sheppard is an aggressor on the
guitar, really taking it to its limits. Many of the tunes showcase his
ability to make that guitar talk. He forcibly makes the strings
resonate, and then he dances across the entirety of the fret board in
order to get Ameranouche's gypsy jazz sound” writes Christopher Hislop
of the Portsmouth Herald.
Ameranouche
performances are patterned with virtuosity, electricity and inspiring
energy. Audiences are taken aback by Sheppard’s brilliant guitar work
and the groups ceaseless musicianship.
