Functionally—what we do—is produce and present a broad range of quality arts and entertainment programs for the central New Hampshire region and beyond.  But what we are, well that’s what makes us special.

What we are is authentic—born from the old stones and long legacy of the historic Franklin Opera House, which since 1893 has been bringing people and communities together to celebrate and enjoy art, culture, and entertainment.  The Middle isn’t the fanciest place in New Hampshire to see a show, but it’s a place with character, with soul, and with history, where patrons feel welcome and a part of something real.

 What we are is people-centered—which starts with a recognition and appreciation of the countless people who volunteer time and effort to make this place operate, and who are at the heart of our steady resurgence. There are great shows here, but part of what makes seeing a show here special is knowing that it’s a community’s affection for this old place that nourishes it, and which resonates in the hospitality and graciousness of how guests here are welcomed and treated.

 What we are is committed—committed to bringing this old place fully back to life again, a destination for the entire region, and a shining example of how a community is investing in arts and culture.  Once upon a time—for more than 30 long years—the Opera House was closed and dead.  But since 2000, it has been reborn, and now achieving steady growth year-to-year, it is thriving.
